Individual therapy offers a time and space for measured reflection on life as it actually is, in this moment, for you.  By directing our awareness toward our present reality, we become better equipped to make changes that often require courage, risk-taking, and skill.  This is the essence of a mindfulness-based approach to therapy, which is Beth Spring’s hallmark.  As your therapist, Beth is focused on "aligning with your strengths", and accompanying you non-judgmentally on a part of your life’s journey.

 

Beth works with individuals during difficult times in their lives, such as caring for a dying parent, coping with the end of a marriage, or having an “empty nest” after the kids have left home.  She offers specific ways to reduce stress, such as breathing techniques and beginning meditation skills, as clients cultivate self-compassion and perspective for facing life’s toughest challenges. 

 

Our problems tend to invite struggle, as we react to our problems with worry, fear, guilt, remorse, and so on.  If you have a relationship or work situation that is very stressful and seems hopeless, you probably have noticed how these situations tend to hijack your mind’s focus.  If you suffer from anxiety, depression, anger problems or low self-confidence, you know how all-consuming these feelings and thoughts can be.  It can be easy to get stuck in a cycle of rehashing the past and rehearsing the future, leading to exhaustion and despair.   

 

Beth's work is focused on helping people develop mindful awareness, self-compassion and insight into themselves and their sources of resilience.  She can help you build essential skills and the ability to work with and hold any emotional experience with clarity and kindness.   Working from a directive approach, Beth will provide you with suggested resources and supports, and insight-oriented therapy.
